Belated Thanksgiving

Food, Family and Fun!

I know this is late, but better late than never, right? This is Thanksgiving at my mom's. My sister, Karley, and her family were in town from Utah. The big picture above is her daughter Kiersten and Spencer. My stepdad had justed planted new grass and they weren't supposed to walk on it, so they walked around it! lol!

Christmas Tag

1. wrapping paper or gift bags? both, depends on the gift. I really like to wrap the kids present since half the fun is watching them unwrap.
2. real tree or artificial? artificial. Kinda of sad, but definately cheaper and cleaner. I do like the pre-lit part too.
3. when do you put up your tree? Normally the day after Thanksgiving. It used to be a lot later when we had a real tree because we didn't want it to die.
4. when do you take it down? Sometime between the day after and new year's.
5. do you like eggnog? Yuck! No!
6. favorite gift received as a child? a bike my brother and dad built. I still remember coming around the corner and finding it in the kitchen!
7. worst christmas gift ever received? Hmm, I plead the 5th.
8. hardest person to buy for? My in-laws. My husband never has any ideas.
9. easiest person to buy for? Spencer! He loves everything!
10. do you have a nativity scene? yes, I bought one at a yard sale recently so I would finally have one, but I would really like a different one.
11. mail or email christmas cards? mail.
12. favorite christmas movie? Rudolph. I know it is kind of dumb, but it always brings back memories of watching it as a kid.
13. when do you start christmas shopping? depends on the year. Sometimes as early as June, most the time, Septemberish I start to get a few. I like to have a long time to think of the perfect gift. I hate to feel pressured.
14. have you ever recycled a christmas present? no.
15. favorite thing to eat at christmas? my mom's pecan pie. Yum!
16. lights on the tree? yes, mine is pre-lit. Who doesn't have lights?!?
17. favorite christmas song? O Holy Night - especially when sung by a really good male singer.
18. travel or stay home? stay at home, sort of. Both parents are in town, so we go to their houses, but it's not really traveling.
19. can you name all of santa's reindeer? Of course, but I have to sing the song.
20. angel or star? I have a hand made angel my mom made, but it looks a little small on my tree. I think I want to get a star.
21. open presents christmas morning or eve? christmas morning, but I did make everyone matching pajama pants this year, so we might have to open one...
22. favorite ornament theme or color? Red, green, white, some silver.
23. favorite place for christmas dinner? my parents or my in-laws, they are both yummy.
24. most annoying thing about this time of year? long lines and traffic.
25. what do you want for christmas this year? I have no idea!

As Promised

So, as some of you know, my husband went hunting for the first time back in October. I wasn't so sure about it, it kind of grosses me out, but David loved it! He did get a deer while he was there and made me promise to post the pics. They aren't really gruesome or anything, but if you don't want to see a dead deer, DON'T scroll down! While the deer part is gross, I do think my husband looks hot as a hunter! As for those of you wondering if we have eaten any meat yet, my husband has eaten a steak and I have tried the jerky. We have yet to try the ground meat. Sorry if the pics are not great, they were taken from a cell phone camera. David forgot to charge or check ours before he left!

Beautiful Day!

Last Saturday was a beautiful day so we decided to take the boys to see the dolphins and secret garden at the Mirage. The boys had a blast! Thanks to this friend for the recommendation! Spencer could not get enough of the dolphins. They have a 2 month old baby dolphin and a bunch of 6 month old tiger cubs. They also give discounts to locals so make sure to ask!

Ahh, happiness!
Tiger cubs! They also had lions and alpacas. It was amazing how well groomed all the animals were.

I think almost all the pictures I have of Spencer are the back of his head! lol!
They don't do a show or anything, but the have trainers working with the dolphins throughout the day.
Jaxon wanted to climb in with the dolphins! Spencer thought he could ride them! Thank you Backyardigans! He is still convinced he can "another day."

Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween this year. These are the only pics I have from before our trunk or treat. Our camera does not like the dark. I also still don't really know how to work it yet either. After Super Saturday, I hope to have some time to read the manual. Spencer was Clifford and Jaxon was a monkey. Spencer wanted his picture taken with Coby since he was a dog. Coby was not so cooperative. :)

Spencer and his "orange teeth"
We had a get together on Halloween morning with Spencer and his friends. I made cupcakes for the "cupcake walk." I had a little too much fun! I also sent some to David's work. :)

The kids doing their cupcake walk

Eating cupcakes! I love this picture of Brayden! (Taken by Chelsea not me!)
Cora as JoJo
The boys eating and playing cars. Such boys!
After our party with our friends we headed straight to David's work for their Halloween party. They always have a lot of fun. They ordered lunch, played some games and awarded prizes.

Jaxon had way too much candy that day!
The juniors had to wrap their seniors with t.p. David and his junior thought they were smart doing it this way. They did NOT win. :)
They also had a pumpkin carving contest and Spencer helped keep track of the vote. I think he might have added a few votes here or there. :)
They also had a relay race with pupkins. It started out they had to hold the pumpkin between their elbows, but then David and his junior tied so they moved the pumpkin to their knees. This was hillarious! Especially since Jason was wearing a toga! David started celebrating too early though, he lost this race!
Our happy family. David and I were Alice and the Mad Hatter. It was so fun dressing up this year. I would like to be more creative next year though. :)
On Halloween night, we headed over to Tina and Radford's so the boys could go trick or treating together. They were so cute in their costumes! At one of the houses their was a witch on the door that made noises and the boys were not too sure about it. The conversation went something like this, "You knock again. No you knock!" It was so funny! Finally the people heard the witch keep going off and answered the door! LOL! After they got their candy the man at the door set the witch off again and Spencer high tailed it out of there! It was SO funny! Overall it was a perfect ending to our very fun filled Halloween!

Happy Birthday to me!

I know this post is past due. I just have not had the time to really blog in a while. Also, most of these pictures were taken later on my celebration with my parents. My birthday was back on the 13th. My husband bought me roses, which I love. :) Also we went to dinner on the Friday before to P.F. Chang's and then to see Jay Leno. We were hooked up with amazing seats thanks to some great friends of ours. I would post a link to their blog, but they are silly and have a private blog! J/K! Love you guys! Anyway, the show was great! We sat in the middle of the third row, I don't think it could have been any better. Sadly, I have no pictures of the evening because I forgot to tell my husband to take pictures. It is just not something he remembers. On my actual birthday, David had to work late and then help me with enrichment stuff all night, so it was good that we had already celebrated. About a week and a half later we had my parents over for some yummy ice cream cake. It was kind of fun because it made my birthday last all month!
My husband thought he was so funny. Just because he's old, doesn't mean I am yet!

My roses. I also received some pink ones the next day.

It's Finally Done!!!

Yeah! The massive construction is finally done! Or at least for the most part. There are a few things still left to be done, but it is actually put together now. Enough that I could have a baby shower here yesterday! It was crazy, but we worked really hard all week and got it done! Here are the beautiful pictures!
Our new kitchen table
the living room/dining room
I love how much bigger it feels without the break in the flooring!

The T.V. and stand - we also painted

The new living room colors/ decor
the entryway - new tile
the guest bathroom - no more sunshine bathroom. I am a little sad still, but I think the new bathroom is beautiful!
David did a GREAT job on all the flooring. I am so proud of him for figuring it all out. I might have taken a little longer, but it saved us a lot of money and it made us both proud!

The big 30!!!!

Happy Birthday to David! Amidst all the construction we did take some time out last week to celebrate David's birthday! He is the big 30! He's not so sure he like being 30, but what can you do. He said he felt really old that night when he was taking a political poll and they asked what age range he was in 18-29 or 30-48! He said he almost lied! Haha! Personally, I think he's aged great! Hehe. Really 30 is not as old as it once was...we are just getting started!

30 balloons for the 30 year old!
Somehow on David's birthday we went to RC Willey to spend some giftcards possibly on a bookcase or a DVD case and ended up coming out with this! No complaints here! I never thought David would spend the money on a camera, but apparently after 7 years my husband still surprises me. He says he's always thought it would be cool to learn photography! Anyway, needless to say, this is actually MY birthday present! Once we get done with al this construction, maybe I'll have time to sit down and really figure out how to use it!

David's birthday, however, did not end that night. On Friday night, I took him out to dinner at this restaurant. It was amazing! It is kind of a random place, but it had great reviews online. If you like Italian, I would highly recommend it! At dinner, I floored David by telling him we had a hotel room for the night. I think that is the first time we have ever left our kids overnight. It was great! Shout out to the Mann's and the Mathewson's for babysitting!
This is our room at the Southpoint. It was an amazing room for the money. We loved it and we loved that we could just go downstairs and watch a movie. We thought about bowling, but we were too tired! We did watch Ghost Town which was surprising funny. We both enjoyed it.

All in all, I think he had a great birthday. Love you, honey!

Home improvements

For the last week and a half (longer if you count the time David spent on the tile int he entry way) we have been doing some remodeling. We have replaced all of the flooring downstairs and repainted most of the downstairs. My neck and back just ache thinking about painting, but when I am done here, I am headed to do touch-up in the bathroom (which I've painted twice in the last week). The following are pics of David laying the laminate in the living room/dining room. I am so proud of him! He has really done a great job. And I can't forget to give a shout out to his brother Richard for giving up his Saturday to come help! We still have work to do. David is putting on baseboards as I type, but it will all have to be done by Saturday. There is a baby shower at my house! It has been a lot of work, but I am very excited, and the sad part is...It is still cheaper than moving! I promise new pictures of the complete transformation next week!
